چکیده

Thermally induced ratcheting of a thermo-active pile is the accumulation net and irreversible head displacement upon heating–cooling cycles. Although this kind phenomenon has been observed in vertically loaded piles sand, it unknown whether exists laterally cases, also what underlying mechanisms occur under thermomechanical flexural soil–pile interaction. This study presents series centrifuge tests finite-element simulations behaviour sand. A new model reinforced concrete (RC) was used to mimic thermal mechanical properties prototype RC realistically. Ratcheting evident its extent more significant when working horizontal load higher. The attributed soil plastic strain due cyclic loading by expansion contraction, dilation interface shearing creep. additional bending moment action did not induce yielding within pile. subsequent numerical sensitivity suggested that ignoring softening sand would lead underestimation magnitude accumulative thermally lateral displacement.

Finite Element Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Column Under Lateral Load

To serve its purpose a structure must be safe against collapse and serviceable in use. Serviceability requires that deflections be adequately small to keep the cracks within tolerable limits. Although the widely followed ACI Code suggests a detailed method of deflection calculation, it often cannot exactly perceive the actual behavior of a structure. For this purpose, finite element analysis, u...

investigation on diagonal reinforced concrete shear walls behavior under cyclic lateral load using finite element method

buildings with wall or frame-wall systems are more effective against earthquake forces and sustain less damage than buildings which their lateral resistance is solely depends on frames. four reinforced concrete (rc) structural wall specimens were subjected to cyclic loading using finite elements method with abaqus software in order to study influence of diagonal web reinforcement. the research ...

An Experimental Study on Pile Spacing Effects under Lateral Loading in Sand

Grouped and single pile behavior differs owing to the impacts of the pile-to-pile interaction. Ultimate lateral resistance and lateral subgrade modulus within a pile group are known as the key parameters in the soil-pile interaction phenomenon. In this study, a series of experimental investigation was carried out on single and group pile subjected to monotonic lateral loadings. Experimental inv...

Pullout Load Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Anchor Shafts

In this paper, results obtained in both conventional and finite element analysis of straight and belled anchor shafts subjected to a pullout force are presented. In numerical analysis, it is assumed that no drainage takes place during the anchor pullout. Comparisons between two conventional methods of analysis for ultimate pullout load and the results obtained by the finite element analysis are...

Calibration of Load and Resistance Factors for Reinforced Concrete

Current approach for designing of reinforced concrete members is based on the load and resistance factor. However the load and resistance parameters are random variables, the constant values have been designated for them in the designing procedure. Assuming these factors as the constants, will be led to the unsafe and uneconomical designs. Safe designing of structures requires appropriate recog...
